Community Action has a growing network of organisations is works with that provide overseas volunteering projects, inparticular with RAG SURHUL we partner with Challenges Abroad who this coming academic year have teams heading to Romania, India, and Thailand.

Community Action has an emphasise to support students to make informed decisions if they choose to do international volunteering. Therefore we organise an 'Introduction to International Volunteering' session during Get Involved Week, host a Volunteering Abroad Fair for our registered volunteering abroad organisations in term two, and encourage students to find out more about various opportunities. Impact International run an annual Know Before You Go training weekend.

Volunteering in another country can have considerable impact on you as an individual as you experience a different culture and engage with the needs of people. However, we would urge all potential volunteers who wish to work on volunteering abroad projects to ask themselves whether their volunteering fills a genuine need in the local community and whether it merits the often considerable amount of money spent and distance travelled. It is important that overseas volunteering is planned well in advance and that you can commit to a significant length of time. The International Citizen Service (ICS) is the UK's leading global volunteering programme for young people who want to do voluntary development work abroad. The scheme is funded by DFID (The UK's Department For International Development) and led by VSO in partnership with respected development organisations which adhere to the good policy mentioned above. ICS partners with: International Service, Lattitude, Pravah, Progressio, Raleigh Development, Restless Development, Skillshare International, Tearfund, VSO, and Y Care International.
