Arts & Culture

Volunteering Matters Heritage Camps

Volunteering Matters Heritage Camps offer 16-25 year olds a chance to help preserve or restore famous cathedrals, churches or historic buildings. Camps take place every year during July and August at various locations around the UK.  Each camp is led by two experienced volunteer team leaders and accommodation, food and equipment is all provided. Egham Royal Show

The Egham Royal Show has been taking place for over 150 years, attracting over 8,000 visitors each year to the local area. There is a call for volunteers to assist with the setup for this prestigious event the week before (22-31 August). The role involves for example moving into place and sitting chairs, tables, ring fencing, fire extinguishers, signage throughout the ground, checking Health and Safety issues, marking out Trade Stand areas etc. For more details email

CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids)

CHICKS is a registered children's charity which takes disadvantaged children between the ages of 8-15, who would not otherwise have a holiday, on free respite breaks. The holidays are designed to give children a chance to be children and to get them involved in a whole number of activities that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to try. Children’s Country Holiday Fund

The Children's Country Holidays Fund exists to give severely disadvantaged children from London and the surrounding areas a range of respite breaks and holidays that help them recognise their potential, and achieve their personal goals in the safest possible environment. Activity Camp Volunteers provide a range of holidays and breaks that allow children to escape the traumas of their everyday life and simply become children again. For more details email

Heroes

We work with a variety of programmes with young people aged between 12 - 16 years old. Heroes run a four day a week programme for young people who are currently being home educated. We are looking for volunteers to work with our young people. Run projects for small groups in their chosen field; join in sports activities or computer activities, cooking or any other projects that are running at the time. For more details email

KEEN London

KEEN is a small charity providing free weekly sports and creative sessions for children with special needs. They do all sorts of activities and need volunteers to help run these sessions taking place on Sundays. You will receive all the necessary training to coach these activity sessions. Kith & Kids

Kith and Kids is a charity based in North London that supports people with learning disabilities and their families. As volunteer for the Summer Project you will be linked with a member and another volunteer over the 10 days. You will be required to support this member in fun creative activities including sports, drama, art, crafts, massage and even a day out! For more details email

Education


Surrey Libraries

Surrey Libraries is looking for volunteers to help run this year's Summer Reading Challenge, taking place in libraries throughout the county. Volunteers are needed from July to:

  • Enrol children for the challenge
  • Talk to children about the books that they are reading
  • Give children their rewards and incentives
  • Help organise and run holiday activities

Young Enterprise

Young Enterprise have a number of one-day primary programmes running this year in Surrey. They are looking for volunteers to deliver fun, proven and structured enterprise activities. Young Enterprise provide volunteer guide books and run briefing sessions prior to the day. For more details email

Older People


Age UK

Age UK are running a 'life book' project throughout the summer. This runs like a reminiscence project and every week you will be covering different topics like music, food, family etc. The sessions shall be recorded and put into an audio book for the older people to take home.
