Here at Royal Holloway, you have many opportunities to get involved in extra-curricular activities and voluntary roles both on and off campus. These experiences help you to develop valuable skills that employers look for, such as teamwork and resilience. Experiences outside your core studies can challenge you, allow you to develop your own sense of the issues that matter to you and help you in your role as a citizen of a global community and a leader of the future.
Last week, I had the opportunity to meet some of you at the Student Success Celebration Evening in the Picture Gallery. This annual event recognises students from across the College who demonstrate our community spirit and make a positive contribution to student life, including Passport Gold Award recipients, Peer Guide Leaders and representatives from Hall Life, RH100, Sport and Volunteering. The celebration event was a wonderful chance for these students to network with fellow students and alumni and share each other’s successes.
The RH100 panellists help to ensure that a range of views are considered in relation to how we shape the College for the future. Peer Guide Leaders support our voluntary mentors in guiding students in their first year at university, while our student volunteers help to run projects that benefit our campus and the local community. Throughout the year, a number of students contribute across multiple areas of student life and gain enough Passport Points to be awarded the Passport Gold Award. I’d like to congratulate all of you who take part in extra-curricular activities, you should be proud of your achievements.
