There are now only two weeks left of the autumn term, and many of you will have assessment deadlines to meet. With the holidays on the horizon, it’s hard to stay focused, but it is important to ensure that in these last few weeks of term you stay on track and ensure you submit your work on time.

That said, it’s also important to take planned breaks, and there are lots of seasonal events to enjoy away from your studies, including our Festive Market, on Thursday 6 December. The Market is taking place from 12 – 6pm in Founder’s Square and will host live music, festive food and drink and arts and crafts. I will also be switching on our Christmas Tree lights at 5.30pm - I hope to see you there.

The festive season is a time for giving, and we’re making the most of the season’s generosity by taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge. Through the Big Give, we have raised over £100,000 since Tuesday 27 November to support scholarships and work placements for students, thanks to the generosity of alumni, staff, students and other donors. Last year's Big Give campaign has already made a significant impact across Royal Holloway, with 23 students from 11 departments benefiting from work placements and scholarships. Over the coming years many more students will benefit from performance related prizes too.
