Whether you have just joined the Royal Holloway community and are beginning your studies with us, or are returning after the summer break, I would like to welcome you to the start of the academic year 2020/21.

This academic year will be different for us all, but what remains the same is our priority to support you during your studies to achieve your goals.

The 2020/21 Information Hub on the student intranet is full of useful information on the new academic year. This includes on your academic experience, student life and how, as a community and as individuals we all have a part to play in helping everyone have a safe and successful year. Please continue to check regularly on the Hub for updates.

The health and safety measures and restrictions we have in place in response to coronavirus (Covid-19) reflect government guidelines and are designed to help protect you, everyone on campus and the wider community.

To encourage everyone to follow government guidelines, be respectful and keep ourselves and others safe we have launched a community-wide campaign called ‘Playing Your Part’. Many of the key messages of the campaign will be familiar to you as they revolve around social distancing and hygiene measures. Following the guidance means you are playing your part and, in doing so, you demonstrate your hope that others will play their part too.

You can see in the video below what Playing Your Part means to me. I’d like to encourage you all to get involved in the ‘Playing Your Part’ campaign, both by following the guidance and adhering to the restrictions in place, and by sharing your own story about what Playing Your Part means to you.
