Today marks the end of national Student Volunteering Week, a campaign that showcases student volunteering whilst inspiring more people to get involved in bringing about positive change. The campaign is now in its 20th year, and our Volunteering team held a number of events across the week, highlighting the variety of different volunteering opportunities and programmes available to you. Events included online sessions introducing a range of initiatives that you can get involved in, as well as an online Partners’ Forum where local and national charities provided information about how they are involving students within volunteering activities. I hope that if you attended any of these events you found them interesting, and if you weren’t able to, you can still find out more about the range of opportunities available to you on our Volunteering online platform.

Volunteering is an opportunity to demonstrate to future employers how you have expanded your skills during your studies, for example communication skills, resilience and the ability to work in a team, and perhaps lead it. Applications are currently open for 2021/22 volunteer leadership roles. This is a great way to develop your skills – find out more about the Volunteering Leadership Scheme on the student intranet and apply online

Many of you have continued to volunteer throughout the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, providing support to other students and the local community, when they have needed it most. Thank you for your contribution.  If you would like to join a volunteering activity, more information is available on our Volunteering online platform.
