Volunteering is an important aspect of student life at Royal Holloway and with over 2,000 of you taking part in volunteering each year, I am always very impressed by the amount of time you give, your creativity and your generosity.

This week, our Volunteering team are supporting the national #iwill campaign, where individuals are asked to share on social media what pledge they’ll make for social action. In the past, our students have volunteered, raised money for good causes and really made a difference in the local community. Last year, the Royal Holloway Swimming Club pledged to record more than 200 hours of volunteering. Through working with Sportsable, a local disability charity, they achieved their goal by the end of the year.

I hope you will join in and make an iwill pledge. To make your pledge, post a short video on Instagram and tag the Volunteering team. You can also email them with your video or picture. I very much look forward to seeing your pledges.

This week we're also re-opening our Founder's Reading Room, adding more spaces and library resources to campus, to support your learning. I hope to see some of you at the official re-opening ceremony tomorrow. You can find out more below.
