I hope you will make the best of the time you have here at Royal Holloway, but I also want to encourage you to think about life beyond campus and the skills you have the opportunity to develop at this stage in your life that will help you in the future.

Your degree from Royal Holloway will demonstrate your academic qualities and achievements to potential employers. However, employers are also looking for you to demonstrate how you expanded your skills outside of the classroom.

Our graduates tell us that taking part in activities such as volunteering, a placement, working a part-time job alongside their studies or joining a sports club or society has both enriched their experience at university and also provided them with skills that employers are looking for.

Deciding what to do after graduation will be unique to you; perhaps you already know what you want to do, possibly you’ve changed your mind from when you first arrived, or, perhaps you know what you’re good at and where your passions lie but are unsure what career will be right for you.

Whatever stage you’re at, the Careers and Employability team can support and advise on the choices available to you. They can help you evaluate your skills, explore career ideas and enact a plan that will get you started on a journey towards career success. I’d encourage you to find out more on the student intranet or visit the Careers and Employability team in the Davison Building.
