Recently, our Gardening team have constructed a new composting bay on our Egham campus, as part of a green waste recycling pilot. The first load of green waste was unloaded into the bay on Wednesday 14 February.
Before this, green waste was transported from our Egham campus in skips and then composted by a waste contractor. The waste was then sold on to third parties.
The composting bay will now take away the need for the waste to be collected or sold on, reducing the emissions associated with transporting the waste. This will also create better protection against biosecurity on-site, as there is a reduced risk of external pests and diseases that could damage our ecological habitat.
