Assistant Conductor 2023-24


Student opportunity to join our orchestral faculty

Applications are now open for the role of Assistant Conductor for Royal Holloway Orchestras 2023-24. 

This opportunity, open to current students at Royal Holloway University of London, is a professional development opportunity for any aspiring orchestral conductors. The Assistant Conductor will attend all rehearsals and performances of the Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra, will prepare all scores on which the orchestra is working, and will assist the conductor on musical matters in rehearsals as requested. The Assistant Conductor will be given opportunities to conduct the Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra in rehearsal and possibly also in performances, and will be supervised by the Director of Orchestras. 

The application process

Applicants must have some conducting experience in order to apply. Applicants must be available to attend all weekly rehearsals of the  Royal Holloway Symphony Orchestra and all extra evening and weekend rehearsals and performances. Schedule will be confirmed at time of offer. 

Auditions will take place on Wednesday, 4 October 2023 in the Boilerhouse Auditorium from 5.00pm. A maximum of 5 candidates will be shortlisted for audition. The selection panel will consist of Rebecca Miller (Director of Orchestras) and Nathan James Dearden (Lecturer in Music Composition & Performance Manager). 

This opportunity is open to current students enrolled at Royal Holloway University of London.
