Thursday (5 March), marks University Mental Health Day, a national campaign that unites Universities across the country to create ongoing year round change to the future of student mental health. I recognise that this campaign comes at a difficult time, I know that the current industrial action is concerning and likely to cause stress and anxiety.

In support of the campaign, there are a number of free activities taking place this week including Wellbeing Workshops about being active and making friends, and a Wellbeing Fair in the Davison Building on Thursday (5 March). As part of the Wellbeing Fair, we will be launching our Row Britannia challenge. Row Britannia is an inclusive (adaptive sport) mental health, fitness and wellbeing challenge by The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT), for teams throughout the UK to raise vital funds and positive awareness. As a College we are aiming to row 2020 miles and raise £3000 for Sport Relief before the end of the term.

I recognise that this campaign comes during a period of industrial action which may be causing you to feel anxious or concerned. The College offers a wide range of mental health and wellbeing services. If you are feeling overwhelmed I urge you to take advantage of the activities being offered in support of the University Mental Health Day, as well as the broader mental health services available through our Health and Wellbeing team. If you would like to talk to someone, please contact our Student Advisory and Wellbeing team. On the student intranet, you can find out more about all the services we offer, guidance on maintaining your wellbeing and more information about the services provided by our Student Advisory and Wellbeing teams.

Being part of a community also means that we look out for one other. If you are concerned about the health and wellbeing of anyone in our community, please contact our Wellbeing team.
