Welcome to your last student newsletter of the academic year. Summer term has come to an end and there’s much for you to look forward to - whether that's
Graduation in a few weeks and then onward to the next step in your career, taking a break with friends or family or starting a summer job.
The end of the academic year is a good time to reflect on what you have achieved over the course of the year, academically and personally. Some examples of the achievements of our students include a team who were awarded a prestigious prize in a
national cyber security challenge. Lydia Garms, Angela Heeler, Georgia Crossland and Amy Ertan from our Centre for Doctoral Training in Cyber Security won the Cyber 9/12 UK Student Challenge, competing against a number of other universities.
For Royal Holloway, 2017/18 has been an important year in our history. On October 18 2017, the Emily Wilding Davison Building was
officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London. The building brings key student services together under one roof, alongside the SU shop and Cafe on the Square. From the design of the building to its name, your feedback has ensured that this important addition to our campus provides the space and resources you need.
We also celebrated the centenary of Representation of the People Act, which gave some women the right to vote for the first time. Suffrage is an important part of our history and many of you joined in the events to mark this historic anniversary.
While the academic year has ended, the campus will be busy over the summer. You can keep up to date with what’s happening by following our
@RHCampusLife social media channels and on the student intranet. If you are graduating, then make sure you
connect with our Alumni Relations team on social media to keep up to date with your lifelong network of over 88,000 alumni. We always enjoy hearing from you.
