Our Peer Guide Scheme allows continuing students to apply to be Peer Guide. A Peer Guide can advise and assist new students in their school as they settle into university life. Applications to become a Peer Guide for the next academic year (2022/22) are now open. You can find out more about what is involved in being a Peer Guide, and how to apply, below.

1. What is the Peer Guide Scheme?

We recruit and train second years, final years and students progressing to postgraduate study to help guide new students through their first year at Royal Holloway. Peer Guides are allocated small groups of new students, usually in the same department or school.

 2. Who can apply to be a Peer Guide?

We welcome all students who are returning to campus for the next academic year.

3. What does the role involve?

Peer Guides are given a group of first year students who they will help mentor in the first few months of first term. This peer-to-peer support and advice is both informal and non-judgmental. If necessary, Peer Guides will refer students who need more structured support to our specialist Wellbeing team.

4. Why should I apply to be a Peer Guide?

Peer Guides are an integral part of welcoming new students to Royal Holloway and the role is a fun way to further engage with our College and meet new people. Peer Guides gain a number of employability skills such as improving their verbal and communication skills, time management and organization as well as learning how to manage and mentor others. You can attend specialist Peer Guide training which can help boost your CV.

5. How do I apply?

To apply, complete this form. The form is also available on the Peer Guide pages of the Student Intranet.

6. When is the deadline to apply?

The deadline to apply to be a Peer Guide is Monday 23 May.

7. Where can I find out more?
