Feb 03 2023

All continuing students can now apply to be a Peer Guide in the next academic year (2023/24).

As a Peer Guide you can help support new undergraduate students to settle into university life. All those who apply by Friday 10 February will have a chance to win a £75 voucher.

You can find out more about what is involved in being a Peer Guide, and how to apply, below.

1. What is the Peer Guide scheme?

We recruit and train continuing students and those progressing to postgraduate study to enable you to help guide new students through their first year at university. Peer Guides are allocated a small group of new students, usually in the same department or school.

 2. Who can apply to be a Peer Guide?

We welcome all students who are returning to campus for the next academic year.

3. What does the role involve?

Peer Guides help mentor a small group of new students in the first few months of the first term (September to December). Peer Guides are there to offer their new students informal and non-judgemental peer-to-peer support and advice while they navigate their first few months at university. If necessary, Peer Guides can refer students who need more structured support to our specialist Wellbeing team.

4. Why should I apply to be a Peer Guide?

Peer Guides are an integral part of welcoming new students to Royal Holloway, the role is a fun way to make a difference, gain transferable skills and meet new people.

As a Peer Guide, you can develop many employability skills such as improving your communication skills, time management and organisation in addition to learning how to manage and mentor others. We offer specialist training sessions to all our Peer Guides which can help boost your CV.

5. How do I apply and where can I find out more?

You can find out more on the Peer Guide pages or by emailing PeerGuideroyalholloway.ac.uk
